If you ask, “What is the most famous biggest rice terrace in Bali?” Tegalalang is the answer. This is where you can find heaps of rice paddies going down the hill all over the valley.

Tegalalang Rice Field is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Cultural Landscape of Bali Province. Therefore, it’s a must-to-visit place for tourists.

Exploring Tegalalang Rice Field

Tegalalang Rice Field is located in the village of Tegalalang, about 20 minutes north of Ubud. It is one of the most popular rice fields in Ubud. The field offers a spectacular view of the green landscape and the surrounding jungle.

You can admire the view from the top of the hill or walk down the valley and explore the terraces up close. The trail is steep and slippery in some parts, so be careful and wear comfortable shoes. Along the way, you will see local farmers working in their fields and some souvenir stalls selling handicrafts and snacks.

1. Getting to Tegalalang Rice Field

The subak system is managed by local communities that follow democratic principles and respect for nature. UNESCO recognized the system as a World Heritage Site in 2012.

Besides enjoying the scenic view of the Tegalalang rice terrace, there are many other activities that you can do there. You can swing over the rice fields, ride a flying fox, or go sky biking.
