History of Water Palace Bali

This garden was built in 1901. The King of Karangasem Kingdom, I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, built a pool in a garden. Then, he named this pool Dirah.

In 1909, the King asked the Netherlands and Chinese architects to renovate this pool. Local architects also helped to carry out this project. Therefore, this garden has a fusion of European and Balinese architecture.

This complex features interconnected pools, pavilions, bridges, and gardens. Since it has awesome architecture and stunning views of Ujung Beach and Bisbis Hill, this location attracts many visitors.

  • Surrounded by Wonderful Natural Views

In the past, the King of Karangasem used the pavilion in this garden as a place to rest. It is because Taman Ujung Sukasada has mesmerizing scenery around it.

For instance, you can see the beach view in the eastern part of the garden. Meanwhile, when you see the northwest side, you can view Mount Gede.

  • Pond and Garden

Ujung Water Palace has three ponds. These ponds are located in the north and south parts. There are many fish in these ponds. So you can feed them. This will be a fun activity you can do in this garden.

Besides, this park has a connecting bridge. Then, you can walk through this bridge to access the pavilion in the middle of the pond.

  • Aesthetic Architecture

  • Parking Lot

The parking area is large. So, it accommodates a lot of cars, buses, and motorcycles. The parking fee is also affordable. You just need to pay IDR 3K for motorbikes and IDR 5K for cars.

  • Toilets

This garden has several toilets inside and outside the garden area.

  • Food Stalls and Restaurants

After strolling around the garden, you do not need to be hungry or thirsty. It is because there are many food stalls in the area.

Besides, you can also visit some restaurants near Water Palace. These restaurants offer Balinese cuisines, such as Jinggo rice, Nasi Campur, and Ayam Betutu.

Location, Opening Hours, and Entrance Fee

The location of Taman Ujung Water Palace Bali is in Banjar Dinas, Tumbu, Karangasem. It is only a 30-minute drive from Lempuyang Temple.

You only can reach this garden by using a motorcycle or car. It is because there is no public transportation to go to Taman Ujung. Just rent a car or motorbike.

If you are from Amplapura, Karangasem, you must drive for 10 minutes to reach this garden. But it will take a 2-hour drive if you are from Denpasar. To speed up the route, you can drive through the Ida Bagus Mantra bypass to Amplapura.

Taman Sukasada is open from Monday to Sunday. You can go there from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Then, what about the entrance fee? Here is the list of the rates.

·        Domestic tourist: IDR 15K

·        Foreign tourist: IDR 50K

·        Shooting permit: IDR 1.000K
